2016 11 20 Christ the King: A Case of Mistaken Identity

In Jeremiah 23, the word of the Lord comes to Jeremiah in the days leading up to the destruction of Jerusalem. A righteous Branch of David, the rightful king of Israel will gather the scattered sheep, and his name will be "The Lord is our righteousness," a play on the words that make up the name of the last king of Judah Zedekiah, The Lord will vindicate me/be my righteousness. It was a case of mistaken identity, a question of the true king. In this sermon on Christ the King Sunday, Fr. Paul Wheatley talks about the way Christ's kingdom comes.
